2015-2016 MOPS Leaders

Coordinator - Arlene Jennings

My name is Arlene Jennings and I am so excited about being Coordinator this year. My husband Seth and I have been married for 6 years. We have a furry child Bailey the dog, our daughter Caitlyn (3) and a little boy Caleb whose 8 months old. I grew up in Austin but when I was in 6th grade I feel in love with Baylor University in Waco, Texas. So after graduating with a focus on accounting I moved back to Austin in 2005 and starting working for a local tax and audit firm. I met my now husband in the fall of 2007 at church where we both were involved in a vocal ensemble and we quickly became good friends. It was not until May 2008 where I realized that I was quickly falling in love with him. We were engaged by October 2008 and got married June 2009. The two fun facts is that we share the same birthday (not the same year) and my childhood home was on Jennings Drive. I worked as a tax and audit accountant for seven years before we had our daughter and I knew that I wanted to stay full-time with her. After becoming a stay at home mom I have really dived into crafting, trying new recipes and have loved being able to spend time with friends and their little ones.

My husband's family are all Aggies (including my two sister-in-laws) so I take great pleasure in spreading my "green and gold" during football season. (Including teaching our daughter to say, "Sic Em Bears" on a daily basis)

This is my third year in MOPS. I really enjoyed the time of fellowship with so many moms throughout the Austin area last year. My kids had such a great time each week in the MOPPETS program. I'm looking forward to making new friendships and walking alongside a new group of moms this year. We attend church at The Church at Canyon Creek since January 2013 and really love the strong community and the worship time each Sunday.

Verse: The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy,  and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7

My husband, Anthony, and I have been married for 13 years. We have 2 kids, Jake (5) and Emily (4).
We are both from the Houston area and ended up in Austin for my husbands job and have been here nearly 10 years.
I am an RN but am a stay at home mom for now. I enjoy movies/books, crafting, and cooking.
I love MOPS and the opportunity to share motherhood with an awesome group of ladies. Looking forward to another year of personal growth with MOPS.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (MSG)
“Be strong. Take ccourage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He is right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you."

Speaker Coordinator - Paige Murphy

I'm so pleased this year to be a part of the steering committee as the Speaker Coordinator for MOPS. My husband, Rick, and I have a sweet and strong willed 3 year old son named Kyler. I've been married to my husband for eleven years and became a "Bonus Mom" to Cole, who is now 17 and a Senior in High School. My husband is from the Chicago area prior to his military service in Army Special Operations and a graduate of Western Michigan University. I grew up in beautiful East Texas and moved to Austin to finish college. I'm proud second generation Graduate of The University of Texas "Hook Em!".
After becoming a mom, I really desired a better relationship with God and the ability to connect with others who felt the same. I joined Ladies Bible Study at The Church at Canyon Creek and developed wonderful, authentic relationships that led me to pursue joining MOPS as soon as a space was available.
I wholeheartedly believe as moms we can all encourage and support each other on this wonderful and challenging journey.
Jesus said, "I am with you always." Mathew 28:20"

Hospitality - Candice Miksovksy

My name is Candice Miksovsky and I am so excited to be returning to MOPS after taking last year off. This will be my 3rd year in MOPS! My husband Jason and I have been married for 9 years We have almost 6 year old twins (Max and Emma) who just started kindergarten, and our sweet baby Ellie who we adopted last year and will celebrate her 1st birthday on September 15th. I grew up in the Austin area (Wimberley), so I'm a rare local :) I went to college at Southwest Texas...er... Texas State, Eat 'em up Cats! After college I moved to the Dallas area (where my husband is from) and taught both high school (only one year!) and elementary school (4th and 5th grades). When my twins were born, I decided to stay home full time with them, and have been a stay at home mom ever since. In January 2013 we were finally able to make the move back to Austin and a sweet friend invited me to MOPS :) A fun fact about me... I went to college with and was friends with Randy Rogers (for any country fans out there), oh and I have run in 5 half marathons and 1 full marathon.

Small Group Leaders

Molly Sylestine

I joined MOPS in 2014 and loved what it brought to my life as a Christian mom (and let's be honest, the food's not bad). I am a WAHM, working part time as a marketing/PR consultant/virtual assistant. My husband and I have lived in Austin since 2006 and we have two daughters, Quinn (4) and Noelle (14 months). We lead a young couple's Sunday school class at Riverbend Church, and we also volunteer and serve on the board for a nonprofit called Hopefully Sow which helps to serve marginalized foster kids in Austin. Fun facts about me: I love to sing (I have a music degree from Baylor), I am from Odessa and yes, I love football, I have a puggle named Ella, I love reading, trying new recipes (what did we do before Pinterest?!), writing, running, Camp Gladiator, and chatting about my faith. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to serve with MOPS this year and I can't wait to see what the year has in store!

Mark 12:30-31

Jill Dobies

My name is Jill Dobies and I've been a part of MOPS since my husband, Jeremy, & I moved to Canyon Creek 5 years ago. We are both native Californians but moved around quite a bit in the 11 years we've been married. We really couldn't be happier to have finally laid down roots in Texas. We have 4 kids, Noah (8), Adeline (5), Alexis (nearly 2), and another baby girl due in early January. My hobbies include photographing my kids (and any others I can get my lens on), small crafty projects that don't outlast my patience, cooking food that tastes good, and national politics (nerd alert). Looking forward to another great year!

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:18

Beth Day

Hi! My name is Beth Day. My husband, Justin, and I met 6 years ago in our downtown condo. We I have one adorable curly-headed adopted daughter named Ruby. She was born in April 2015, and we had a farmer's market party this year to celebrate her first birthday! I taught high school Spanish for 12 years, and decided to stay home when we adopted sweet Ruby. We also have two pups and a cat.

I enjoy being outside for long walk-jogs, near the water and with my family and friends.

I love MOPS because it has given me a space to share in the joys and trials of motherhood with other moms who love Jesus. This year I look forward to meeting new friends and encouraging fellow moms in faith and in our important roles as moms and wives.

I run in the path of your commandments, for you have set my heart free. Psalm 119:32
